How to Get Rid of Dry Cracked Lips

Do you have dry cracked lips? I know how it feels. That painful feeling and bad looks just don’t seem to go away easily.  Lips are part of our skin, so we must also take care of them, even more when they are left dry and cracked.

The state of your lips can be caused by different circumstances and underlying conditions.  In order to get rid of dry lips, you should first know what is causing them.  It is most commonly related to extreme weathers and dehydration, but it also can be caused by vitamin deficiency, allergic reactions, and serious conditions such as diabetes, Kawasaki disease, Macrocytosis and certain STDs.

To treat the occasional problem of dry cracked lips, I recommend treating your lips with lip balms. Anthony Logistics Spearmint works great and it has a good price too! Or you can also use the more complete solution, the Anthony Logistics Sport Stick.  These products provide solar protection that will improve the condition of your dry cracked lips.

An important tip to keep in mind is avoiding licking your lips.  You may feel tempted to do it, but this action can produce pain when the saliva evaporates. Sun protection and hydration are also extremely important to recover the state of your lips.  However if the cracked dry lips are caused by another condition, you’ll have to also address it.

Tanning and Chest Hair – Incompatible?

I’m a man with chest hair, I can’t deny it and I’m not ashamed of it.  My wife loves it, I love it, and all the men in my family are proud chest-haired men.

But then summertime comes, and I can’t seem to get a nice tan! And it is not because I’m using tons of solar protection.  It is because my chest hair is in the way! Has this happened to you?

You know, tanning has its benefits: it makes you look slimmer and younger (as long as you don’t become tanorexic!).  Is there a solution that doesn’t mean shaving your hair completely?

The answer is yes, I have found that I can get a nice tan if I TRIM my chest hair.  Now, this is not such a big secret, I bet you have been thinking about it.  But I didn’t do it before because I lacked the correct tool (my regular hair trimmer took some time to evenly trim my chest hair).  Now I use the Norelco Bodygroom.

To this day, for me, the Norelco Bodygroom is the best body hair trimmer.  It works great – if only it didn’t take too much time to charge… but well, nothing is perfect isn’t it? You have to use one of the attachment combs that come with the Norelco Bodygroom and pass the shaver. I recommend first trying the number three first, and then check if you feel comfortable with the length.

Now, this solution might work best if you have a not thickly populated hair area.  If that is the case, maybe waxing is a better option to get that tan.  You know, shaving your chest is not such a big deal like it used to be.  It never hurts giving it a try.

If you have another solution to this problem, I would be extremely happy to hear it. So please share :D

Hommage Shaving Products Review

hommage.jpgOk guys, I’m back with results of my first shave using the pack of Hommage products. This time I tested things out with a brand new Gillete Mach 3 Razor and previous warm water bath, just so you get the idea of the WHY of my results.

Well, to start I grabbed the Pre Shave Oil. Now, I’m not a big fan of oily stuff, I think they’re a mess to use when shaving and applying with your hands, but hey! I had to test this.

It is very easy and nice to apply, you won’t notice it much the shine on the skin like it happens with other oils I’ve tested, but it does a pretty good job at softening the facial hair.

Now, before I go on, I want to say something about the package: it’s not very practical.

I almost broke the package because you have to turn it around and press, and well when the gel or creams come out it feels like..well.. a porn movie (so to speak). Maybe because I’m new to Hommage’s products I had to pour a few more time to get the exact amount I needed, so the containers ended up “oily” and sticky.

Moving on to the Shaving Gel, things were a little tidier, you apply it on top of the shaving cream using a little water to help is spread easier. This wasn’t as simple for me as I had this beard of 4 days (and my beard grows fast like hell). The smell is pretty nice, and my face doesn’t need any extra fragrance, however, if you like to use other fragrances, this may not be too good to you.

I started shaving, and things were pretty clean, no cuts, no nicks and not so much of a razor burn. Still, I had to use the Fortify Balm. This is the best of the three products I’ve tried; this moisturizer works fast and relieves burn quickly. It has the same fragrance as the shaving gel – it smells nice.

Final verdict? Hommage’s products are not among the best ones I’ve tried, however they are acceptable and work as promised. If I had to recommend something from this test, that would be moisturizer or “Fortify Balm”. I also think they have to work the containers to make it easier on the consumers – over time it could be frustrating to use these containers.

Still, Hommage is above most common shaving creams you find on Wal-marts.  It is a high-end product available at a high-end price.

I Found My “Hommage Six Pack!”

hommage-six-pack.jpgA few.. err… months ago, I received this six pack of Hommage products. And they seem to be lost when I moved, but guess what… I found them!!!

This is a nice looking package that was delivered to me courtesy of our friends at Maintenance for Men and contains samples of these products:

  • Shave Cream: Perform
  • Preshave Oil: Prime
  • Shave Oil: Protect
  • Shave Balm: Soothe
  • Shave Balm: Fortify
  • Shave Gel: Revitalize

To be honest, I really didn’t know how to proceed with all these products, so I went to Hommage’s page to learn a bit more about these shaving aids. And well, I’m still a little bit confused. From my conclusions I see that first I need to start with the Preshave Oil: Prime, then choose between the Shave Oil, the Shave Cream and the Shave Gel to finally Protect and Fortify my skin. I hope I am right… So today I will start testing the Preshave Oil/Shave Gel/Fortify combination and will be back with the results!
