How to Get Rid of Dry Cracked Lips

Do you have dry cracked lips? I know how it feels. That painful feeling and bad looks just don’t seem to go away easily.  Lips are part of our skin, so we must also take care of them, even more when they are left dry and cracked.

The state of your lips can be caused by different circumstances and underlying conditions.  In order to get rid of dry lips, you should first know what is causing them.  It is most commonly related to extreme weathers and dehydration, but it also can be caused by vitamin deficiency, allergic reactions, and serious conditions such as diabetes, Kawasaki disease, Macrocytosis and certain STDs.

To treat the occasional problem of dry cracked lips, I recommend treating your lips with lip balms. Anthony Logistics Spearmint works great and it has a good price too! Or you can also use the more complete solution, the Anthony Logistics Sport Stick.  These products provide solar protection that will improve the condition of your dry cracked lips.

An important tip to keep in mind is avoiding licking your lips.  You may feel tempted to do it, but this action can produce pain when the saliva evaporates. Sun protection and hydration are also extremely important to recover the state of your lips.  However if the cracked dry lips are caused by another condition, you’ll have to also address it.

Summer is Coming, Time to Moisturize

men-moisturizer.jpg

Summertime is coming our way, and as you know that means spending a lot of time outdoors on the beach, playing football in the park, and well, doing all the thing we men love to do!

This of course means that we’ll have our skin exposed to the rays of the sun. Read the rest of this entry »

Organic Tanning

organic-tanning-lotion.jpgIf you’ve tried sun-less spray tanning, you know the horrible smell it leaves on your skin. If you are a guy into tanning, stop using tanning beds! They are not recommended and have health dangers. That’s where Organic Tanning comes in.

Yesterday we posted about Tanorexia, and a reader left us an interesting comment:

My husband tan’s like a fiend because he likes that healthy look it gives him. I keep telling him it is dangerous. Can you please suggest some quality organic bronzers that look natural when applied? - Debbie Metzger Read the rest of this entry »

Tanorexia: Are You Addicted to Tanning?

tanorexia.jpg

Today I came across a new term: Tanorexia. Basically it describes an addiction to tanning. If you’ve seen some Guidos you’ll know what I mean.

Tanning can be dangerous to our skin, yet many people obsessively do it. Why? Well, researchers have found that tanning can be addictive because it frees endorphins. The endorphins are chemicals our body releases that produce an euphoric feeling in our bodies, they are also responsible for reducing pain. Read the rest of this entry »

Broccoli Sunscreen

You know, with this long lasting summer weather (I’m in the northeast region of the US), I guess we should keep on posting about sunscreen and the scientists at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland seem to be coming up with new advances in natural skin care.

Tests on six volunteers exposed to pulses of UV radiation showed the broccoli extract sunscreen reduced sunburn symptoms by up to 78 percent! So what is this broccoli sunscreen made of?

The ointment was made from extracts of three-day-old broccoli sprouts rich in protective compounds called sulphoraphanes. Unlike a normal sunscreen, it does not absorb UV light to prevent it entering the skin. Instead, it works inside the body by boosting the production of enzymes that protect cells against UV damage and the risk of skin cancer. Protection is said to last several days.

broccoli.jpgThis discovery is great in general for all but especially great to protect against skin cancer. I wonder when we’ll start seeing broccoli sunscreen in the skin care market…

Now I understand why my mom would slap me silly so I would eat my broccoli… thanks mom!
