Baxter of California Hydro Salve Lip Balm Review

baxterlipbalm.jpgAre you using the regular chap stick for your lips this winter? Well, for just 8 bucks you can get a real lip balm… for MEN. Many companies such as Jack Black, Anthony Logistics and The Art of Shaving offer great lip balms for men. But only Baxter of California was kind enough to send their Baxter of California Hydro Salve Lip Balm to review :)

It wasn’t hard to test this lip balm, since here in the North East part of the US its freezing. The only weird thing about the lip balm is that I had never previously really used a lip balm, so it was kind of weird getting used to the moist feeling on my lips. The lip balm they sent me was Mojito flavor, it wasn’t a great taste but it was no big deal.

It was working great all week, I didn’t get cracked lips and the lip balm was easy to carry in my pocket and I would apply when needed during the day. Just getting used to having my lips moist was a bit challenging, but at the same time I new that the moist feeling was good for my lips.

So after about more then a week I decided to stop using the lip balm to see if it was really helping my lips. Sure enought I started noticing a little bit of cracked skin on my lips. So I started using it again.

So overall the lip balm worked great, if your a guy who works in cold weather or if your into skiing, snowboarding any type of winter sports, this lip balm is made for you. Buy the Baxter of California Hydro Salve Lip Balm

Winter Lip Care

It’s starting to get colder and the dry cold air is an enemy to our lips. So if you want to get that hook-up with the hottie at the Christmas party, investing a couple of buck on a lip balm would help. The good thing now is that we are not limited to regular cherry flavored chapstick. This winter tons of mens skin care companies have made lip balm for men. Check out some I’ve found online. Pucker up!

Most men tend to over look lip care, we don’t see many chapsticks made especially for men, there are usually those cherry or pinkish girly chapsticks at the store. However, thanks to men skin care providers, such as Jack Black Lip Balm SPF 25, Intense Therapy, men are now dedicating some to get better looking lips not only a benefit for us, but for her as well ;)

As the men’s market for moisturizers and sun protection has grown, so has the market for lip balm. Besides longstanding unisex standards like ChapStick, Blistex and Kiehl’s, macho choices like Jack Black, a line that exclusively targets men, are proliferating.

According to a 2005 report by Packaged Facts, a publishing division of MarketResearch.com, lip care products “are performance orientated, and chapped lips are a rugged sort of ailment that men can treat without feeling effete.”

Milicent Brooks, a spokeswoman for Wyeth Consumer Health Care, ChapStick’s parent company, said, “There is definitely a cult following for men and ChapStick,” particularly the original lip balm in the black stick tube.

Grant Deady, a spokesman for Blistex, said about 40 percent of its customers are men.

At retailers like Sephora, lip balm is among the most popular skin care items for men, said Rene Shepherd, Sephora’s grooming merchant. And Burt’s Bees has been so inspired by its 20 percent increase in lip balm sales over the last two years that it plans to start its first complete line of men’s personal grooming products in October, said Mike Indursky, chief marketing and strategic officer.

Some men, meanwhile, are beginning to go a bit more daring, aiming for not just moisture but shine.

“Gloss has an extra pampering feeling to it,” said Eric Perino, 25, who switched from L’Occitane en Provence’s Shea Butter to Clearly Kiehl’s, a unisex lip gloss with a slight shine that was introduced in January.

Mr. Perino, who recently earned a master’s in international finance policy at Columbia University, said the gloss gives him a bit more sophistication as he starts his new job in real estate finance. And, he said: “It’s not medicinal at all. You can pucker your lips and it tastes nice.”
