There are many shaving products on the market for men. But what about shaving products for black men, African-American men, Hispanic men and men of color in general?
The truth is there really are few products that are targeted specifically for men of color. The best shaving product for black men we found was from Barc.
“At Barc, our goal is to deliver superior products for men with medium to dark skin tones who are suffering from a number of painful and chronic skin conditions including razor bumps and ingrown hairs,†said Christopher Hayes, Barc, CEO. “In developing our new shaving cream, we conducted extensive research and held numerous focus groups where we learned that African-American and Hispanic men are seeking a new shaving cream that is better suited for their particular skin types.â€
It’s true, men of color want a shaving cream design for their skin which is very different from men who have lighter skin tones. Also black men tend to suffer more from razor bumps and the common irritation and razor burn. That is why Barc created a lines to better suite the needs of African American and Hispanic men of color. As you may or may not know, we have two offices in this blog, one in USA and the other in Peru, so when Vic is freezing like a penguin I, Paolo am here enjoying the rays of the sun. This gives me the chance to talk a little about sun care. I have seen many times men with dark skin not taking care of it because they assume they don’t have to do it.
This is a misconception.
Black skin needs protection too. So the first step is grabbing a sunscreen that will protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun, the second step is use a moisturizer. But given the current choices in the market you can have both in a single product!
The main benefit of taking care of your skin is of course, avoiding skin cancer, but if you’ve been reading this blog for a while you should know that it delays the aging process too. So, I’d recommend you use sunscreen all the year, it never hurts to sty protected. If you spend most of your time outdoors, it would also be a good idea to wear a hat to shade your face from the sun.
