why-do-you-get-pimples.jpg

They seem to get out of nowhere, specially during our teenage years. They certainly makes us feel more self-conscious and uncomfortable during social meetings. But why do you get pimples? What triggers them?

Although there’s no relation between a specific food and pimples, a diet that is composed by a high percentage of fat, stimulates the production of fat in our skin, thus making pimples more prone to appear. On the contrary, if you eat more fruits and vegetables you will lower your chances of getting pimples. Read the rest of this entry »

Menscience Presents Acne Therapy Lotion

Menscience is launching its new acne product line, the latest addition to this line is the Acne Therapy Lotion, a product designed to deal with future outbreaks and to restore skin damaged by acne. This in turn, complements their first product in the line, the Acne Spot Repair, which is aimed at immediate treatment.

Acne Therapy LotionThe Acne Therapy Lotion targets blemishes and reduces acne causing bacteria on the surface of the skin. It uses a concentration of 3% Benzoyl Peroxide, a component used extensively by professionals to treat acne. However this use also carries a secondary effect: redness and dehydration. That’s why the Acne Therapy Lotion also contains Green Tea, Allantoin, Panthenol and Urea, all of them help balance the effect produced by Benzoyl.

If you have acne but are looking at something besides immediate treatment, you should try this product.

The Link Between Acne and our Overall Health

The parts of our body all function as a whole, and in the same manner when we have a condition or a disease, it affects our body health.  Acne is no exception; in this article called “Causes of Acne and Their Impact“,author Craig Spencer, talks about it.

It’s good to know about this stuff, and see that it is more than just an aesthetic thing. As Spencer says clearly:

The impact of Acne to the body is manifold. It affects the vital organs of the body. Acne is just the start of destruction as it slowly starts affecting the lungs, liver and kidneys. Medications at that point of time may somewhat resist Acne but again when it breaks out will again weaken the vital organs of the body. Hence proper care should be taken to get rid of Acne permanently.

3 Tips for Acne Prevention

Acne can be prevented to some extent.  Although you may think that acne just appears, there are certain tips to take in account in order to minimize the risk of having it.  Here we leave you 3 tips you can start using TODAY!

  • Remove dead skin cells - This must be done daily. Dead skin cells block the pores, it’s better to ask a professional first to get the exact product your skin needs, but exfoliating products does just that use them with a facial scrub every morning and night and you should end up with a clean skin, clear of dead skin cells.
  • Stop using acne-causing products.  There are certain creams that in the long run help the factors that cause acne.  If you use cosmetic products watch out for the ones that are comedogenic.  Comedogenic ingredients cause acne cosmetica.
  • Control your body’s sebum - Though, as of now, there are no products capable of controlling body serum, you can control it using special skin care products.  Keep an eye on your body and adjust your usage of the product properly.  Don’t forget to always consult a doctor who will know what is best for you, and give you the best product options.

Skoah Turbo Tonik

This is part 2 of my Skoah Product Review, check out the first on the Skoah Foam Kleanser if you haven’t yet.

turbo_tonik.jpgSo after using the Foam Kleanser, next to apply is the Turbo Tonik. You put some on a cotton ball and damp it on your face. It smelled a little like rubbing alcohol, but not as strong. I didn’t feel any stinging which is a good sign, plus the product doesn’t contain alcohol, which is great if you have sensitive skin. I was looking for it to control my oily skin. It was effective, after some use I did notice that I had less acne breakouts and less oily skin. And of course once again, I didn’t like the presentation, but the product itself works great. I also think the products should be numbered, kind of like the Murad Men’s products, the bottles are numbered in the order they should be used. I just mention this cuase’ sometimes I’m on-the-go or get a brain lapse and forget which to use first.

I would recommend this if you have oily skin or want to control moderate acne. For more information on this product visit Skoah.com
