Ever since we where kids or mom or dad would bug us every morning "Wash your face! Wash your teeth!” Wash, wash, wash! And of course we would obey like a good little boy... at least sometimes. Now that we're older we understand the importance of male grooming and how it attracts girls.
So maybe putting a couple of more bathroom minutes for grooming aren’t so bad. There are great men's skin care products on the market that make male grooming an easy and quick task. The thing is to not think about skin care as a chore but as part of your life style. Kind of like a workout. We like to keep our muscles in shape and we don't see that as a chore but as something we benefit from. Same goes for skin care, we can get great benefits out of it too. Here are a couple of tips to get started on male grooming.
Wash you face before you go to sleep. Consider this your last daily exercise. Of course, you can let all the nasty bacteria eat away your face over night, or prevent early aging signs and wash up before hitting the sack.
Almost everyone gets acne, but if your in your late 20's or early 30's and still have sever acne, do yourself a favor and see a pro. In this case you would have to see a dermatologist. Common creams and treatments won't do it, in sever skin cases you're going to need the doc to give you a prescription.
Don't know how to start off on skin care for men? Easy, give the 3 step plan a shot.
Numero Uno, wash your face with warm water and glycerin-based soap. This will open your pores and prepare your skin for exfoliating.
Two, restore your skin's pH balance with a skin toner.
And three, hydrate your face with moisturizer. You’re done! You can use this 3-step plan every day before you start your day and it should only take 5 to 10 minutes. Need products? Check out our Products section!
Clean up BEFORE you hit the weights. If you start your exercises with clean skin you'll do less harm to your face. This is a must for you guys that don't use the showers directly after a work out.
Keep your skin protected from the sun. Yeah, I know you knew this classic, but you’d be surprised how few athletes include sunscreen in their pre-workout regimens. If you ski, surf, or enjoy any other outdoor activity, always use an SPF 15 sports stick applicator around your lip and eye areas to prevent wrinkling. You can even use it on the tips of your ears and bald spots to ward off sunburns. And you know no one likes sunburns, ouch!
Here another classic, Drink lots of water. Not only is it good for your inner health but it also keeps your skin hydrated.
Don't pop it! If you're active then pimples are no strangers to you. Athletes often spend a lot of time with sweat and bacteria on their faces. And this, of course, causes pimples. The little voice inside your head says to pop that little sucker but you know that does more harm then good. So how can you nuke that pimple out? Facial Cleansers. Try it and see the results yourself.
Now that wasn't so bad after all huh? Skin care for men is fast, easy and it is something that you can benefit from. Your face is what everyone sees first and it's important to keep it clean and healthy. Just a couple of minutes to take care of your skin and you're ready for the day.
